well, maybe some albertans.
well you're from edmonton which is far less redneck...anywhere from red deer down is pretty bad...and i lived in deathbridge so i know...
You are aware that Canada is officially a Christian Country right? I know you are well read so I can only assume that you are willfully neglecting that fact because you are sad your guy lost and are venting.
Actually, according to the 2001 census, only 48% of the country falls under the Catholic, Christian Orthodox or other Christian faith. Last time I checked, that was a minority. It would also be worth pointing out theat of those 14 million people, about half of them live in Quebec. 80% of our separatist province is christian/catholic, and even they say they aren't part of Canada.
Actually what Ziv is referring to is that Canada has an official state religion while the U.S. does not.
However, that point is like arguing that Canada is not a democracy because we have a monarch. It's what's done in practice that matters.
if it isn't relevant then why are Dec 25, Jan 1, Good Friday and Easter Monday statutory holidays?
Effectively vestigal remnants of religion that are no more relevant to most people than Victoria Day, Canada Day, Rememberance Day and the other purely secular holidays. A day off work here and there is just a little different than vote for me because God told be to bomb Iraq.
who said the G-d spoke to them?
if Xmas was just another stat. holiday why is everything closed?
Bush did. Bush said: "God told me to strike at al Qaida and I struck them, and then he instructed me to strike at Saddam, which I did, and now I am determined to solve the problem in the Middle East. If you help me I will act, and if not, the elections will come and I will have to focus on them." Reported in the June 26 edition of Ha'aretz (which I presume you are familiar with), from a transcript of Bush's meeting with Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abas.
i was reading recently, not sure where, that the u.s. wanted to institute a system in iraq like that in saudi arabia...where they prop up the current government in return for military presence and investment...but saddam wasn't interested in such an arrangement...therefore the neocons decided he should be ousted...and now they have a puppet just like they wanted, and in afghanistan as well...just watch the capital fly...
At least he is going after terrorists and not civilians, unlike the aforementioned men.
the guy's sporting a ronny icon, enough said...
the population has nothing to do with the official religion. The official religion was instituted with confederation. | |
