- New Project - Sanctuary 3D

Last night at Sanctuary I brought along the stereo camera and made a roll's worth of new 3D images. Animating these things takes time so you'll be seeing the images over the course of the next month or so. I've set up a special gallery area on my website for the images and put the first image in. While using animated GIF files was adequate for the black and white vintage stereographs, I haven't been happy with the way the 256 colour limit of the format causes so much dithering in the full-colour images I'm making now. If you click on the thumbnail below you will be taken to a new version of Stereo #25 that uses Flash to animate the two frames as JPEGs. This is a much more satisfactory method of animation, the only disadvantage being that LiveJournal doesn't allow embedded objects so I can't display the Flash animation here directly.

I think this is the most successful one from the night. I love how the smoke hangs in the air under the red light.
